SALEM – A Lynn woman charged with driving drunk for her fifth time remains held without bail at Framingham Prison for Women, pending a dangerousness hearing. In Salem Superior Court Tuesday morning, Shelley King, 48, of 41 Millard Ave., entered her innocent plea to driving under the influence of alcohol, fifth offense, operating under the influence of alcohol after suspension for operating under the influence of alcohol, second offense, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle in connection with her arrest in Lynn on Jan. 26.Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Kirshenbaum requested that Judge David A. Lowy hold King without bail until a dangerousness hearing can be heard because she feels King poses a danger to the public safety. She provided Lowy with an audio tape to review before the hearing along with other materials from the district court hearing in which District Court Judge Bert Conlon found King to be a danger. In the meantime, Lowy ordered that King is to remain on a no bail status pending the outcome of the dangerousness hearing.Kirshenbaum and defense lawyer Frank J. Sanchez agreed to argue the issue of dangerousness on May 21.It was shortly after 6 p.m., on Jan. 26 when King allegedly took an illegal left turn over a center island and crashed her 2004 Mitsubishi into the front of the Lazy Dog Restaurant in Wyoma Square. No one was hurt during the accident.Police responding to the scene said they found a crushed Coors Light beer can in her car and that she smelled of alcohol. She apparently tried to get out of her car while the car was still in gear, police said.King reportedly admitted to police that she did not have a license because she lost it for drunken driving.King’s record dates back to 1983 out of Lynn District Court where her case for drunken driving was continued without a finding. She was convicted for drunken driving three times in the 90’s and in February of 2003 she was convicted of drunken driving out of Lynn District Court, according to reports.
