SALEM – The inmate who escaped from Salem Superior Court last month with the aid of two women, have all been indicted by an Essex County grand jury.Miguel Caraballo, 37, of Lawrence faces a charge of escape, while Yessina Silva, 27, and Joann Santos, 30, both also of Lawrence, are charged with aiding a prisoner to escape and accessory before the fact of escape.On the morning of June 25 as Caraballo was being taken off the correctional van and brought into Superior Court in Salem, a vehicle, containing a female driver and a female passenger, immediately pulled up and Caraballo jumped into it and it sped away.The car was later located a few blocks from the court house.After a massive police hunt, Caraballo was located a few days later.Assistant District Attorney A.J.Camelio is assigned to prosecute the case for the commonwealth.Indictments are not an indication of guilt. It is a decision by a grand jury to warrant a jury trial in Superior Court, allowing for a more severe punishment.
