LYNN – The weekend weather forecast of heavy rain has already claimed two casualties on the sports calendar. Friday’s St. John’s Prep-Everett football game, at Everett Stadium, has been postponed to Sunday night at 6 at the same location.
Also, Saturday’s Madison Park at St. Mary’s football game, scheduled for Saturday night at 7, has been moved to Sunday, 7:15, at Manning Field.
As of now, the rest of the athletic slate remains unchanged, but stay tuned to both www.itemlive.com and The Daily Item for further updates as they become available.
Also Friday, Marblehead football coach Doug Chernovetz is slated to return to the sidelines after a two-week suspension for using chewing tobacco in front of his players last season.
The suspension came as the result of a multi-faceted complaint filed by the parents of former player Tim Morris charging the coach with several instances of verbal abuse.
The complaint also called for a restraining order prohibiting Chernovetz from having contact with Morris – which was denied last May.
However, the suit against Chernovetz continues Depositions will be taken throughout October as the case proceeds through the system.
Tim Morris, meanwhile, has left the school and is a tight end for St. Mary’s in Lynn. He caught two passes in last weekend’s loss to Saugus.
