LYNN – Have you ever walked into a department store and felt overwhelmed by the racks of clothing or just don’t know what looks good on your body type?If that sounds familiar, fashion maven Ginger Burr of Total Image Consultants may be able to rescue you from a clothing conundrum and whip your wardrobe into shape. For the past 21 years, Burr has helped countless women find their inner style by embracing the latest trends, make-up tips and everything needed to look their best.A wealth of knowledge when it comes to fashion, Burr, a stylish woman with striking red hair, said her clientele ranges from 35- to 60-year-old women looking for a little help to look their best.”Sometimes women call me asking for help with their teenage daughters because they are just beginning to come into their own and don’t know what looks good on them,” she said. “And then there are the women whose bodies are changing because they had a baby and need help finding the right clothes.”Most of the time, however, Burr said the women she encounter simply don’t like to shop for clothing and are overwhelmed by the process.”A lot of my clients walk into a department store and their eyes just glaze over because they’re not born shoppers,” she said. “I simplify the shopping process.”That process typically begins with Burr assessing her client’s wardrobe and putting together a palette of colors and styles that would look best on their body type.Next up is a shopping trip designed to meet the client’s needs, which is tailored to their budget.”A person’s image is very personal and you could hurt them in a heartbeat, so I like to see who they are first and what they typically buy,” she said. “Some women are just stuck in a rut and aren’t sure what to buy because they aren’t aware of the options that are out there.”A few of those options include trendy eco-friendly or vegan fashions that Burr said are becoming increasingly popular.”It’s really growing in leaps and bounds,” she said. “A lot of the fashions, however, are totally not realistic for a lot of women, but that’s what happens with trends.”A vegan for the past three years, Burr said her new lifestyle affects more than just her food choices and ethics, but also the fabrics she chooses to wear.Off-limit materials include wool, silk, leather, suede, fur, and down when it comes to vegan clothing, while cotton, linen, rayon, viscose, acrylic, polyester, micro-fiber, bamboo, hemp and organic cotton are considered OK.Burr said that while most women think the list of off-limit items leaves them with nothing left to purchase, that notion is simply not true.Sporting an outfit purchased entirely from Infinity Boutique/Skate Skins in Swampscott, Burr said she also frequents Marshalls for vegan finds as well as The Studio in Brookline, Wow in Newton, Lord & Taylor, and Her Design LLC for handbags in Marblehead.”The world is becoming a little more aware of this growing area,” she said. While Burr often styles the likes of local women, she can’t help but notice the fashions of Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain, and Sarah Palin.”I think they all realize that they have to have a style and that they have to feel good in what they are wearing,” she said. “Michelle likes to wear richer, brighter colors, while Cindy looks best in medium tone, softer colors. And they both enjoy jewelry which allows them to express their personality.”While the nice compliments flowed for Obama and McCain’s styles, Burr was at a loss of words for Palin’s duds.”It’s really nondescript,” she quipped. “Her glasses are very nice and they have some style to them, but that hair! I would really cut that hair, it’s so unattractive. But I guess you can’t please everyone out there.”To set up an appointment with Burr, call 800-380-8726 or stop by her office at 14 Lewis St., Lynn.
