LYNN – A man who shouldn’t legally be driving was arrested for his second drunken driving offense Monday after he allegedly struck another car on Western Avenue and tried to flee the scene.Damaso Lopez, 36, of 123 Lawton Ave. #2, Lynn, allegedly urinated on himself before police could place him in a jail cell.Police were called to Maple Street about 10:25 p.m. after the accident victim followed Lopez as he allegedly took a U-turn following the crash and drove away. The two cars collided at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Western Avenue.The victim managed to position his car in front of Lopez on Maple Street, forcing him to stop. After police arrested Lopez for unlicensed operation, operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense) and leaving the scene of an accident, Lopez urinated on himself while being booked at the police station, according to a police report.According to Lynn District Court documents, Lopez was arrested July 13, 2007 after an officer found him passed out behind the wheel with his foot on the brake in the southbound lane of Western Avenue, just two blocks away from where he got into an accident Monday.Police determined Lopez was drunk after observing several empty and full cans of Budweiser in the car and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, according to a police report. He was arrested for OUI and unlicensed operation.On April 16, 2007, Lopez was arrested after he got into a fender bender at 240 Washington St.Police said he was unlicensed and had an open beer can in the car, but he was not charged with OUI.As in all three cases, a Lynn District Court judge on Tuesday released Lopez on personal recognizance and ordered the unlicensed operator, “not to drive,” according to court documents.
