The sporting landscape at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody will be radically different this fall.Robert “Bo” Tierney, who has been associated with the school for 30 years as a coach and administrator, will not be back.Tierney was the Crusaders’ hockey coach for 34 years, and got his 300th career victory this past winter in a game against the Lynn Jets. For the past 10 years, Tierney has also been the school’s athletic director, and for 20 years prior to that, he was the assistant AD to James McHugh. The school made a brief announcement verifying that Tierney will not be back, but would not comment any more than to simply confirm previous reports.”I understand that people may be curious and concerned, but to comment on personnel issues would show a lack of respect for the privacy of all involved,” principal Sister Catherine Fleming said. “Yes, Coach Tierney will not be returning in September. It was not a decision made lightly; he served this institution and its kids for many years, and he will be fondly remembered by many.”He has always conducted himself with integrity, and we wish him only well as he continues on his journey,” the principal said.
