SWAMPSCOTT-Swampscott resident Charles D. Baker, a Republican candidate for governor, has selected state Sen. Richard Tisei as his running mate.Baker introduced Tisei Monday in Wakefield, where Tisei lives.?Throughout his career in public service, Richard has built a solid voting record as a fiscal conservative and a reformer of state government,” Baker said. “If, on Election Day, the people of this commonwealth stand behind our vision for helping future generations put their stake in the ground and pursue their dreams at home in Massachusetts, Richard Tisei will help the Baker Administration get the job done.”Tisei said he has known Baker for more than 20 years and they share many of the same philosophies.?I strongly believe with all my heart that he’s the very best hope for the future of the commonwealth,” Tisei said. “He’s the right person at the right time to get us out of this mess and to put our state back on track? We understand that the economy needs to be jump-started to get people back to work, that we need to change the business as usual attitude on Beacon Hill, and that we need to make Massachusetts more competitive and more affordable.”Tisei is a graduate of the Lynnfield Public Schools and earned a bachelor’s degree from American University.Tisei was a state representative from 1985 until 1990. Since that time he has served in the Senate where he is the minority floor leader.
