LYNNFIELD – The lawyer for Robert Harris, whose Lynnfield veterinarian wife purportedly committed suicide in their Caribbean hotel room last month, has announced he will disclose additional information about the case to the media today.Harris, 47, and his wife, Joan Baruffaldi, 45, flew to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands Nov. 3. Hours later, Harris called relatives to say the woman had hanged herself with a bathroom sash tied to the shower curtain rod in their Westin hotel room. The Baruffaldi family, through a series of court filings in Essex and Middlesex counties, has accused Harris of murdering his wife. One of those court actions succeeded in halting Harris from having the woman’s body cremated since that would destroy any remaining evidence. A special administrator has been appointed by the court to examine the case and determine whether a second autopsy should be performed. The first autopsy, conducted in the Caribbean, listed suicide as the cause of death.Although the case made headlines throughout November, little has happened since Thanksgiving. On Thursday, however, Boston private investigator Thomas Shamshak contacted area news reporters to say that Harris’ attorney, Kevin Reddington, will disclose new information about the case during a press conference at his Brockton law office Saturday afternoon.Shamshak, the former Winthrop police chief, invited the media to attend. He did not reveal the nature of the information Reddington plans to disclose. “Kevin is going to have a press conference Saturday at his office when he will disseminate some information about the case,” Shamshak said.Boston attorney Donald McNamee, who represents the Baruffaldi family in their wrongful death suit against Harris, said they are awaiting word from David Eppley, the special administrator assigned by the superior court. “We’re just waiting to get permission for the autopsy,” he said Thursday. “We are hoping that will be fairly soon because a lot of time has gone by, but I think Mr. Eppley is getting up to speed.”McNamee said he had not the faintest idea what sort of information Harris’ lawyer plans to reveal.Baruffaldi’s body has been held at a Somerville funeral home. She bequeathed about $3 million in real estate and other assets to Harris. The couple had marital problems and Baruffaldi in October sought a restraining order against her husband.
