SAUGUS – Mr. Brown came to Saugus Saturday afternoon but you would think a member of the Beatles was inside the Kowloon restaurant as the more than 1,000 supporters treated Scott Brown like a rock star.Brown, who defeated Martha Coakley in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated when Edward Kennedy died, spoke only briefly to those in attendance, including Barbara Walters, then spent more than hour signing autographs, taking pictures and shaking hands with well wishers.Brown, who was introduced to the crowd by comedian Steve Sweeney, said he had been going to Kowloon’s since he was 5 and said he celebrated his 50th birthday in the restaurant.Click here to see a photo gallery from the event.?I am here to thank all of you for making Washington realize they have to change their vision on how to solve problems,” Scott said. “There is a whole new feel in Washington. Finally there is some dialogue happening to address real problems.”During Brown’s short remarks the crown broke out in chants of “Seat Scott now” and “go Scott go.”Lynn resident Pat Gecoya said he had to be in attendance Saturday afternoon.?I came here to see Scott Brown. He is a genuine person and worked very hard to get where he is,” Gecoya said. “He will make good judgments in the Senate not only for Massachusetts but for the entire country.”When Sweeney was introducing Brown he joked about how the Democrats tried to pull out all the stops by bringing in Patrick Kennedy and President Barack Obama which received loud boos from the partisan crowd.?I realize Obama got the peace prize which was great but what will he receive if he does anything?” Sweeney asked. “Will they give him the Heisman??What Scott Brown did was unbelievable,” Sweeney said. “He had no money and a pickup truck. He is an authentic human being and not your typical politician.”Lynner Larry Carlson had his day made when Brown autographed a picture of the two of them that was taken outside of Boston Garden when Carlson met Scott at a Bruins game.?Scott is a nice guy and he is going to do the right things for all of us,” Carlson said. “It was a great feeling when he signed my picture. When I met him he talked to me about my Boston College jacket. He was just a great guy. I think he is going to be our next president.”Brown, who was on a barnstorming tour across the state over the weekend to thank voters, would not comment on who would support for governor of if he would work for Donald Wong who has announced he was running for state representative against Democrat Mark Falzone.?It is premature to talk about other races,” Brown said. I am trying to get a staff together at this point and I don’t even have any business cards.”
