LYNN – Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy stopped briefly at City Hall en route home from the hospital Monday, long enough to attend the swearing in of Dennis Carmody as acting fire chief and James McDonald as act-ing deputy chief.Carmody and McDonald took the oath of office from City Clerk Mary Audley.Kennedy underwent an emergency appendectomy over the weekend and was discharged from Union Hospital Monday. Her husband, Kevin, drove her to City Hall to witness the swearing-in ceremony.James Carritte, the former acting fire chief, submitted his retirement papers on Friday. Technically, Carritte has retired, but the city’s Retirement Board must still vote to accept it.
