LYNN – After allegedly robbing a bank on his birthday, a Lynn man wanted for two additional bank robberies was arrested within the hour after he mistakenly left his license at the bank.Scott Oliver, 47, of 30 Franklin St., #2, was charged with three counts of armed robbery and arraigned Wednesday at Lynn District Court by Judge James Wexler. He was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and is due back in court Oct. 5 for a probable cause hearing.Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the Brotherhood Credit Union at 75 Market St. on a report of a bank robbery. Upon arrival, police spoke with a teller whom Oliver allegedly passed a note to, demanding money. The teller gave police Oliver’s license, which she said was left on the counter after he walked up to her booth. She claimed Oliver handed her a note saying he was robbing the bank and that he didn’t want to harm himself or her and that he only wanted large bills without any alarms or dye packs. The teller said she handed him $3,092, which was in her drawer in multiples of $100, $50, $20 and $10 bills. Oliver then left with the money, but left behind the note and his license, which had an address of 8 Ray St., Lynn.Police said they went to his last known address of Franklin Street first and found Oliver in the common hallway outside of his apartment. Oliver was said to have shouted out, “How did you find me, did someone rat me out?” and “Damn, I left my ID on the counter there, didn’t I?” He went on to say, “I was trying to get out of there so I could get the money out of the house in case you guys came. Another five minutes, I would have been gone.”Oliver told police that he left through the rear door of the bank and took off his yellow and black striped shirt, throwing it on the corner near St. Mary’s School.Oliver’s girlfriend later allowed police to search their apartment, where they found clothing consistent with that worn by a suspect who robbed the Sovereign Bank at 39 Exchange St. on July 29. He later told police that he discarded each shirt that he was wearing at the time of the three robberies. He said he robbed the banks because he “needed money to pay bills” and denied any drug addiction or substance abuse problems. Police say the other robbery in question took place at the Salem Five at 20 State St. on Aug. 21.The total amount of money recovered from Oliver was $3,110 – $2,850 in a black plastic bag and $260 on him during his booking.
