LYNN – A Roxbury man who allegedly bit his girlfriend’s arm, dug his nails into her hand and scratched her cheek and neck after a heated argument Sunday, appeared in court Monday.Francisco Santiago, 39, of 68 Hamden St., #4, was charged with domestic assault and battery, intimidation of a witness, malicious destruction of property over $250, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, ring.Santiago was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court by Judge Sabita Singh and was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 14.Around 5 a.m. Sunday, Lynn Police responded to a report of a domestic assault and were met by a 30-year-woman who had a swollen left eye. The victim, who was in her friend’s apartment next door, claimed her wound was the result of an argument with her boyfriend, Santiago.Santiago was found in his apartment and was placed into custody. While being escorted to the police cruiser, officers say Santiago ranted about “not being a woman beater,” but admitted to hitting the victim in the face after she allegedly struck him five times.Police say they didn’t notice any marks on Santiago. Another officer returned to the victim’s apartment, where she said the two had visited a club that evening, Up & Downs in Quincy, and got into an argument.The victim said they continued to fight with each other on the way home to Lynn and at one point, Santiago allegedly dug his nails into her right hand, reached over and scratched her cheek and neck and then bit her on the underside of her right forearm and her left hand near her pinky finger.The victim said they continued to fight at their apartment and when she went into the bathroom to call the police, Santiago allegedly kicked in the door.Once inside the bathroom, Santiago was said to have punched her in the left eye, which police say was swollen shut when they arrived. At that point, the victim said she managed to run into her neighbor’s apartment next door. She was later transported to Union Hospital.
