SALEM – A Lynn man who confessed to firing shots at a Lynn resident on Western Avenue last fall will serve 18 months in jail before being placed on probation for another two years.David Rucker, 21, of 60 Elm St., pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon in Salem Superior Court to charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm before Judge John T. Lu.The charges stem from a mid-day shooting incident in Lynn on Sept. 18, 2009 when police say Rucker was caught firing shots at a 21-year-old Lynn resident in a parking lot near the Hines Liquor Store on Western Avenue. At the time of his arrest, Rucker had a loaded unauthorized Taurus revolver in his possession that had an obliterated serial number, according to reports.Police say no injuries were reported and the revolver was recovered at the scene. The sentence imposed was less than the three to five years in prison sought by Assistant District Attorney Michael Sheehan, who pointed out to Lu that the incident occurred midday on a busy street in Lynn and in a Lynn parking lot.Rucker had been free on $5,000 cash bail. He received 21-days credit towards his term of incarceration while he was held in lieu of bail.
