BOSTON – A Revere teen was ordered held without bail Monday in connection with the shooting death of a Jamaica Plain man on Reservoir Avenue Sept. 29.
Alen Stijakovic, 19, was arraigned at Chelsea District Court on a single count of murder stemming from 26-year-old Kareem Spurill’s death. He was held without bail at the request of Assistant District Attorney David Fredette based on witness statements and additional evidence from an investigation.
Stijakovic was represented by attorney Jonathan Shapiro and is scheduled to return to court Nov. 4.

The night of the shooting, police responded to the scene at about 7:30 p.m., in the area of 308 Reservoir Ave. Spurill was transported to Whidden Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A witness at the scene labeled the home in which Spurill was shot in front of as “weird” with a lot of “strange activity.”
According to police records, in 2008, Revere Police arrested Spurill, then 24, on a Boston police warrant for attempted murder.
State Police assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office investigate all homicides in Revere, Chelsea and Winthrop and are assisted by Revere Police detectives and uniformed officers, as well as specialized State Police units.
