LYNN – After allegedly admitting to cheating on her live-in boyfriend Saturday, a Lynn woman whipped out a can of illegal pepper spray and used it on him during an argument.Janna Caraballo, 24, of 26 Commercial St., #3, was charged with domestic assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, pepper spray, unlicensed possession of pepper spray. She was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court by Judge Albert Conlon and was released on personal recognizance under the conditions that she not abuse the victim and cooperate with the Department of Children and Families. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 23.Police responded to 26 Commercial St. on a report of a domestic around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, the 26-year-old victim was found rubbing his eyes with a wet towel in a parking lot, complaining of having been sprayed with pepper spray, with red, watery eyes.The victim claimed Caraballo came home from work and the two began arguing when he accused her of having an affair. The victim said Caraballo began screaming at him as he walked out into the hallway. When he turned around to confront her, he alleged that she confirmed the affair and sprayed him in his eyes with pepper spray.A neighbor who witnessed the incident told police she heard yelling and screaming and when she leaned over the railing in her building, she claimed to have seen Caraballo spray the victim.When Carraballo returned to the building a short while later, police say she was very upset and almost to the point of being incoherent as she explained herself. After she calmed down, Caraballo said the victim has been violent with her in the past, showed an old bruise on her shoulder which she said he caused, and claimed he pulled her hair in the parking lot before she sprayed him.When asked where she got the pepper spray, Caraballo said she “got it from a man on the street,” but would not elaborate any other details. She went on to say that she doesn?t have a permit for the pepper spray and that she threw it away after their argument.The two have a 3-year-old daughter, who was in the Dominican Republic at the time of the incident. The victim claims the two are married, however Caraballo said they are not. The Department of Children and Families was contacted.
