LYNN – A Lynn man who allegedly kicked down a door and assaulted a woman in his building Friday night, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Monday.Arthur Flood, 40, of 526 Western Ave., #16, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, armed burglary, indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 years of age, resisting arrest and malicious destruction of property over $250. He was arraigned at Lynn District Court by Judge Albert Conlon and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Oct. 12.According to Lynn police, a report of a fight was phoned in around 2 a.m. Saturday at Flood?s residence. Upon arrival, police were met by the superintendent of the building, who alleged Flood assaulted a woman in the building. He went on to say that he heard yelling and screaming coming from the first floor common hallway and when he opened his door, he saw Flood chasing a black woman up the stairs.He said he followed the two and found an apartment door that had been smashed in. When he walked inside the apartment, he said he saw Flood laying on top of the woman while assaulting her. After grabbing Flood and pulling him off of the victim, he said he escorted him out of the apartment. During that time, Flood is alleged to have started screaming at him, saying, “Who?s a gangster” as he brandished a large kitchen knife and allegedly threw it at a window, breaking it.The superintendent said he sustained minor injuries to his hands because of the incident. Police arrived at that moment, secured the knife and spoke with the victim. She said she was on he way to visit her mother in the building, when Flood approached her and inappropriately grabbed her breasts. As she yelled for him to leave her alone, the victim said she ran into her mother?s apartment and shut the door. Flood is then alleged to have followed her, kicked the front door down and again assaulted her. She said she tried to fight back, causing several lacerations to Flood?s neck.Police then made their way upstairs to Flood?s apartment in an attempt to speak with him, but as he answered the door, he tried to slam it in the officers face. He is alleged to have screamed, “You don?t have a warrant!” The victim was then brought to his apartment, where she identified him as her attacker and he was taken into custody.Flood is said to have become extremely agitated and began verbally and physically assaulting an officer and violently thrashing about for a short time after.
