LYNNFIELD – Nicholas Alphen shares a birthday with race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., actor Mario Lopez and football player Brett Favre, but of that group, only he is turning 10 on 10-10-10.Alphen will share his unique milestone on Sunday with his family and friends, who are eager to take part and celebrate the numerical oddity.?I think I?m more excited about it than he is,” quipped Alphen?s father, Matthew. “I?ve been telling everybody about it.”Alphen, who attends the Summer Street School and is in the fourth grade, said he can?t wait for his birthday weekend to start, which will consist of going to either Canobie Lake Park or CoCo Key Water Resort today with four of his friends, followed by a barbeque and church services on Sunday.?I think it?s really amazing,” he said with a giggle. “I?m looking forward to being with my family and friends.”Alphen?s mother, Donna, said she plans to adorn their home with plenty of numerical decorations for the birthday BBQ, along with a cake with the number 10 on it.?His teacher (Mrs. Patti Heldenbergh) said 10 is her favorite number and thought it was so cool when she found out,” she said. “Students in the school are also working on an assignment for 10-10-10 (10 responsible things).”While Alphen?s parents are still in the process of picking out the perfect gift, one of his presents will be ten $10 bills.The year Alphen was born, 2000, a leap year occurred, meaning it had 366 days.Alphen?s brother, Jared, also has a unique birthday. He will turn 9 on Sept. 9.
