SAUGUS – Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Rt. 1 gas station Sunday.Around 6:30 p.m., police were notified of an armed robbery at Super Petroleum at 1330 Broadway. Upon arrival, a clerk told police that an unidentified white male entered the store saying he had a weapon and demanded money.As the clerk was getting the money, the suspect said, “No, give me all your 20s.” After the clerk handed over nearly $600 in $20 bills from the cash register, the suspect bolted from the store and ran down Felton Street.A video surveillance camera was said to have captured a clear picture of the suspect, who is described as heavy set, approximately 50-years-old, 5-feet, 7-inches to 5-feet, 9-inches tall, with a mustache and gray hair, wearing jeans, a blue and black flannel shirt and a brown Superman hat at the time of the incident.The clerk said a weapon was not shown during the robbery. Police checked local motels and other establishments in the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 781-233-1740.
