LYNN – An alleged East Boston pimp and his prostitute were shut down for business Monday night, after police discovered their illegal occupations.Victor Hugo Gomez, 40, of 1115 Saratoga St., was charged with deriving support from prostitution and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; Carolina Magana, 34, of 150 London St., #1, East Boston, was charged with sexual conduct for a fee. Both were arraigned Tuesday at Lynn District Court by Judge Elizabeth Cremens. Gomez was ordered held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail and instructed to stay away from Lynn, except for court appearances, and to not have contact with and stay away from Magana, who was released on personal recognizance. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 16.According to court documents, detectives from the Lynn Special Investigations Unit (SIU) were made aware of the prostitution ring in September through an anonymous tip. A phone number was also given, which the anonymous person said is used by Columbians who were delivering prostitutes to clients in a white Honda Odyssey van.Police tracked down the number and discovered it was registered to a Lynn man on Camden Street, where police say another Columbian prostitution ring was previously busted. On Tuesday night, police called the phone number and spoke to a Spanish-speaking male, who allegedly said he could deliver a Columbian girl for a fee of $40. After agreeing to the price, police arranged for the girl to be dropped off on Chase Street.Within minutes, police on surveillance of the home saw a white Honda Odyssey van pull up with a girl in the backseat. At that point, the officers identified themselves as Lynn Police and spoke to the girl, Magana, who admitted to working as a prostitute and that Gomez was responsible for arranging the meetings, transportation and keeping the money.Magana went on to say that she started at 2 p.m. Tuesday and had serviced five people for $30 each in Lynn prior to being busted. The proceeds were then allegedly split between her and Gomez. Both were taken into custody and $160 was seized from the center console in the van, along with a plastic bag containing condoms and lubricants from the rear seat. During booking, police found $39 in Magana’s purse and $239 from Gomez, who was found to be unlicensed in Massachusetts and previously arrested under two false names.
