LYNN – A Chelsea man wanted for allegedly beating a Peabody man to death over a parking space turned himself in to Lynn Police Monday afternoon.According to District Attorney spokesman Steve O’Connell, Fernando Aristy, 24, was arrested on a warrant for assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and another warrant issued out of Norfolk District Court for distributing heroin.O’Connell said Lynn Police plan to apply for a murder warrant this morning. Aristy is scheduled to be arraigned today at Lynn District Court.On Oct. 9, Aristy is said to have severely beaten 34-year-old Chad McDonald of 4 Cashman Road, who later died as a result of his injuries Oct. 20 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.McDonald’s wife, Michelle, said her husband was assaulted following a dispute over a parking space at Jim Appleyard Bonded Storage, a warehouse located at the corner of Bennett and Commercial streets where he worked moving furniture and other possessions from home evictions.A father of two, McDonald grew up in the Highlands in Lynn and formerly ran a mechanical repair shop on Fayette Street. He was described as having a slight build, weighing 155 pounds.Police say McDonald and Aristy exchanged words over a parking space where McDonald needed to park a truck at Appleyard’s. The brutal assault was said to have occurred around 3 a.m., but McDonald was not discovered until 2:30 p.m., according to his wife, who said her husband was left to die.The McDonald Family Fund has been established at Eastern Bank for anyone who would like to contribute since Michelle said her husband did not have life insurance.A memorial marking the scene of the beating was created by family and friends complete with candles and other memorabilia.
