SAUGUS – A Peabody teen allegedly high on Adderall slammed into several cars while driving on Rt. 1 Saturday morning.David C. Turner, 19, of 1 Donegal Road, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe lane change and speeding.Turner was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court and was ordered held without bail pending an open case in Peabody District Court. He posted $1,000 cash bail on the current case. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 12.According to court documents, police arrived on scene of the accident around 11 a.m. and found a vehicle facing southbound in the northbound lane with heavy front-end damage and both driver’s side and front air bags deployed. Two people were found inside the vehicle, one of whom had to be removed using the Jaws of Life, and both were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.Another vehicle was found with heavy front-end damage as well and the driver was also transported to MGH. Numerous bystanders allegedly pointed toward a third vehicle involved, saying the driver caused the entire accident. Inside the driver’s seat, police found Turner, who they say was jumpy and twitchy as he fumbled through the cab of his truck while looking for something.While speaking to Turner, police say they noticed that his pupils were very constricted and that his eyelids appeared to be heavy.Turner allegedly first told police that he was coming from the turn around on the highway, then he said he was coming from his home in Peabody, then he said he was on his way to get breakfast and finally said he was going to work. During the conversation, Turner was said to have been very animated and unable to stay still while constantly rubbing his nose and scratching his arms and neck.When asked if he had taken any drugs, Turner said he took three pills of Adderall that morning on an empty stomach, but that he exceeded his prescribed dosage by two pills. After several sobriety tests, Turner was taken into custody and during the trip to the Danvers State Police barracks, Turner allegedly became very lethargic and drowsy and nodded off a few times.Police say Turner was pulled over on the same road about a month ago on a report of erratic driving.
