LYNN – An alleged armed home invasion on Washington Street Tuesday night has landed a Peabody teenager behind bars. The suspect, George Muroki Kimani, 18, of 18 Keys Drive, was charged with armed assault in a dwelling, assault with a dangerous weapon, gun, threat to commit a crime, using another person’s license and a one-way street violation on Liberty Street. He was arraigned Wednesday at Lynn District Court by Judge Ellen Flatley and was ordered held without bail pending a hearing on Nov. 9.According to court documents, police responded to a report of a home invasion involving a gun in the 100-block of Washington St., around 11 p.m.Upon arrival, police spoke with two victims, who are also roommates at the home in question. One of the victims said that while he was kicking a 17-year-old girl out of the apartment, Kimani allegedly tried to force his way into the apartment and pointed a gun at him. Both victims said they managed to shut the door as Kimani allegedly shouted that he was going to come back and shoot them.Police saw several bags in the hallway, which the girl said belonged to her, but she denied that Kimani had been at the apartment, saying he was instead on his way to pick her up. Police had her send a text message to Kimani’s cellular phone, making sure he was on his way. While they were waiting for his arrival, the girl told police that Kimani was the father of her child and that she had texted him earlier asking for a ride and help getting her belongings out of her ex-boyfriend’s apartment. During that conversation, other officers spotted Kimani driving the wrong way down Liberty Street and pulled him over. After running his plate, police discovered that the plate had been illegally attached and that the car was unregistered and uninsured.Kimani was then driven over to the Washington Street apartment, where police had the victims identify him. While there, police checked Kimani’s cellular phone and saw a bunch of text messages indicating that he and the victim’s ex-girlfriend were conspiring with each other against the victim. When police confronted her, she admitted that Kimani had been at the apartment, but said he never went inside. Police say she will be summonsed to Lynn District for the offenses of armed assault in a dwelling, assault with a dangerous weapon, gun, by joint venture with Kimani and intimidation of a witness/victim, by allegedly lying and misleading police regarding the investigation. The cellular phone was seized as evidence and Kimani was taken into custody.
