SALEM – Three men were indicted Wednesday afternoon by an Essex County grand jury on separate cases involving narcotics and robbery crimes.Daniel Clark, 39, no address available at this time, of Malden, is charged with two counts of unarmed robbery involving bank hold-ups in Saugus and Salem during a two-day crime spree.Police say Clark robbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the Saugus Co-Operative Bank, located at 489 Lincoln Ave., just before noon on July 14.The following day, Clark allegedly walked into the Seaport Credit Union, located at 336 Lafayette St., near Salem State College, showed a teller a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.Clark was arrested a week later in Lynn on a probation violation.Also indicted were:Douglas G. Hurlbert, 50, of 43 School St., Saugus, charged with armed robbery and larceny of property over $250, stemming from the Oct. 10 hold-up at the Super Petroleum Gas Station, located at 1330 Broadway in Saugus, where $650 was reported stolen.John Marino, 40, of 10 Donegal Road, Peabody, charged with trafficking over 28 grams of heroin in connection with his arrest in Lynn on Sept. 9.Indictments are not an indication of guilt, rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe penalty.
