SWAMPSCOTT – Selectmen gave Town Administrator Andrew Maylor high marks on his annual performance review this week.Maylor, who is the first town administrator in Swampscott, started work in October 2002.Maylor was rated by the selectmen in 10 performance areas on a scale of zero to five, with five being excellent. His performance was rated as very good or excellent in all 10 categories. The evaluation covered the period from October 2009 through October 2010.Board of Selectmen Chairman Jill Sullivan said Maylor is a valued employee.”It is an excellent performance review,” she said.One of his highest ratings was 4.6 points for his skills in financial administration, which is the same score he has received the last couple of years.In the feedback/comments section, the selectmen noted inter-municipal agreements Maylor has made that have improved service levels and saved the town money.”Andrew makes good decisions and is always well planned and is as thoughtful as possible given financial limitations,” one selectman noted on the anonymous evaluation form.Maylor’s lowest ranking was a 4.0 in the area of supervision/leadership, but that was an improvement from last year.In the comments area, the selectmen characterized Maylor as a good leader, who sets clear expectations of his employees.Maylor also received high scores in staff development, personnel administration, labor relations, policy execution, interaction with selectmen and intergovernmental relations and productivity. The results of his annual evaluation are in line with those conducted in previous years.
