SALEM – A 38-year-old Lynn man, facing a five-year mandatory state prison sentence for again dealing narcotics, remains held at the Middleton Jail on $50,000 bail following his arraignment.Chris Martinez, of 9 Henry Ave., #1, Lynn, entered his plea of innocent to a charge of distribution of heroin, a subsequent offense, Monday afternoon in Salem Superior Court.Judge Timothy Q. Feeley set the high bail as jointly agreed by the prosecutor and defense with the agreement that the defense may seek a bail review hearing at another court date. The charge stems from his arrest in Lynn on July 12 when police say he distributed a small quantity of heroin to a dealer who in turn sold it to an undercover officer for $60.Martinez was arrested around 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Franklin and Hanover streets, according to reports.Because Martinez has prior narcotic convictions out of Lynn District Court in 2008 and Fitchburg District Court in 1991, he faces a minimum mandatory punishment of five years in state prison, if convicted. He is due back in court on Dec. 15 for a pretrial conference.
