LYNN – An elderly woman had her purse violently snatched from her on Eastern Avenue on Monday afternoon.According to Lt. William Sharpe, the 89-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk around 1:19 p.m. in the area of 583 Eastern Ave., when a black vehicle, possibly a Chevy, pulled up alongside her.”A black or Hispanic male passenger got out and approached the woman and then forcibly removed her purse,” he said. “The suspect then ran down Eastern Avenue onto Glenwood Avenue.”The victim was knocked to the ground during the scuffle and suffered minor scrapes. She was treated at the scene and taken to an area hospital for precautionary reasons.Sharpe said police searched the area for the suspect and the vehicle. Several leads have been developed, but no arrests have been made.Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 781-595-2000.
