REVERE – A motorist who struck a utility pole on North Shore Road Wednesday morning ended up causing another vehicle to knock down four poles due to sagging wires.Police say Pedro Jorge, 41, of 144 Lucid Ave., Lynn, hit a pole around 11:30 a.m., causing a wire to sag down. A truck following Jorge?s vehicle caught the hanging wire, bringing four poles crashing to the ground. As a result, North Shore Road was closed on both ends in the city from Butler Circle to Revere Street for a couple of hours, snarling traffic. National Grid and Comcast responded to the scene and were still actively repairing the poles as of 8 p.m.According to National Grid spokesman David Gray, 26 customers in the neighborhood lost power as a result of the accident.?Quite a bit of damage was done,” he said. “The poles are owned by Verizon, so it?s Verizon?s responsibility to replace all of the poles and the equipment.”Police say they do not believe Jorge or the other unidentified truck driver suffered severe injuries during the accident. It was not made clear whether Jorge was cited at the scene.
