SALEM – A Lynn couple and a Saugus man accused of robbing and beating a Lynn teen with a hammer earlier this month were indicted Friday afternoon by an Essex County grand jury.Philip Andrew LeBlanc, 30, and Shawna Bottiglio, 27, both of 4 Essex Place, Lynn, and Ryan Lawrence Applegate, 28, of 2 Hillside Terrace, Saugus are charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a hammer, in connection with the Nov. 3 incident on Essex and Fayette streets in Lynn, where a 19-year-old man was robbed and beaten.The victim told police he was approached by the suspects outside the 7-11 convenience store and forcibly herded into a basement apartment at 4 Essex Place, where he was struck with a hammer over the head and $200 was taken from his person.LeBlanc is also charged with unlawful possession of Clonazepam. Police found the illegal substance on his person when they arrested him.Indictments are not an indication of guilt, rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe punishment.
