SWAMPSCOTT – Police are searching for suspects involved in three recent thefts, including an armed robbery of a Starbucks in Vinnin Square on Monday night.Det. Sgt. Tim Cassidy said the first incident happened on Nov. 15 at the Spiros gas station, located at 640 Humphrey St., where officers found the front door of the business smashed. A suspect wasn’t located at the time, but police were called back to the same location around 2 a.m. and found that someone had entered and stole an undetermined amount of money and cigarettes. Surveillance video showed a white male suspect leaving the building and heading toward Pleasant Street.Then, on Nov. 18, officers responded to a breaking and entering of a home around 3 a.m. in the area of Roy Street, where occupants of the home were said to have been sleeping at the time. A rear screen door had been cut, which the suspect entered through and stole a pocketbook and a wallet.The latest incident happened at Starbucks around 9 p.m. Monday, where an armed robbery occurred. Cassidy said the suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall, who entered the store, approached an employee and showed a handgun in his waistband. After demanding money, the suspect fled the area toward Loring Avenue in Salem.”Residents are reminded with the holiday season upon us to lock their doors, leave lights on inside their home and to not leave any valuables in their cars or in plain sight inside their homes,” Cassidy said. “Businesses are urged to call the police if they see anyone looking suspicious in their stores or milling around outside their stores.”Detectives are reviewing video surveillance of the incident in an attempt to identify the suspect.
