LYNN – While the early morning hours are usually spent making the donuts, one Lynn man thought he could make off with some dough from Dunkin Donuts early Saturday.According to Lynn Police Lt. Dave Brown, Tony Goffredo, 28, of 4 Broad St., burst into the 116 Lewis St. store around 5 a.m., holding two pellet guns, while demanding money with a hooded jacket pulled over his head.Employees quickly activated the store’s alarm, alerting nearby officers who were en route to an accident on the same street. Around the same time, another call came through about a disturbance on Red Rock Street, which is around the corner from the store, and officers quickly saturated the area as they checked out both reports.”Upon arrival, officers observed two Dunkin Donuts employees escorting a person toward them,” Brown said. “This individual was identified as Goffredo. The employees told the officers that Mr. Goffredo had just robbed the store and they provided police with a pellet gun.”During the investigation, police learned that Goffredo demanded the clerk open the register and after taking an undisclosed amount of money, he ran from the store toward Bassett Street.”The two employees gave chase and were able to catch up to Goffredo on Red Rock Street,” he said. “After a brief struggle, they escorted him back to the store, where they met police.”Goffredo was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery while masked and a Suffolk Superior Court warrant. Brown said he was also charged with three counts of armed robbery while masked, which is relevant to other Lynn robbery investigations, but did not disclose where they took place.Goffredo is expected to be arraigned today at Lynn District Court. He is also being considered as a possible suspect in a recent Swampscott robbery, according to a Daily Item source. Swampscott police declined to comment Sunday night.Brown said as the officers began to piece together the incident, they found a second pellet gun, which Goffredo allegedly used to rob the store.
