PEABODY – A Peabody mother and son escaped their burning home Sunday morning.Fire officials say the 1-alarm blaze ripped through the 11 Hamerick Road home around 6:30 a.m., which was contained to the living room. Damage is estimated at $150,000.Linda Cox is said to have suffered minor injuries, including burns to her arms and hands and was taken to Salem Hospital along with her son, Ryan, who also sustained burns to his hands.Heavy smoke encompassed the home and Ryan allegedly had to crawl out because he could not see through it. Four cats also safely escaped.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
