SALEM – A former Lynn woman has been indicted for again dealing cocaine by an Essex County grand jury.Diana J. Perry, 34, formerly of 13 Cedar St., Lynn, now residing at 3 Heritage Drive in Salem, stands charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, subsequent offense, stemming from her arrest in Lynn on Oct. 20 when police say they stopped her in a motor vehicle on Summer Street and seized six bags of cocaine from her person. At the time of the incident, Perry was on probation for distributing narcotics involving a case out of Peabody in 2002. She had been in default on the case for five years.Because Perry has prior drug convictions, she faces a minimum mandatory punishment of five years in state prison if convicted as charged. The case now moves from Lynn District Court, where she has pleaded innocent, to Salem Superior Court, where she will be re-arraigned within a few weeks. In the meantime, she remains held at Framingham State Prison for Women without bail.Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan is assigned to prosecute the case for the state. An indictment is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court, allowing for a more severe punishment. It is not an indication of guilt.
