SAUGUS – Police say a suspect threatened to stab a Dunkin? Donuts employee during an attempted robbery Monday night with an allegedly blood-filled syringe containing the AIDS virus.Saugus Police Lt. Leonard Campanello said police were alerted to the incident at the 508 Lincoln Ave. store around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers learned that the robbery actually happened around 5:45 p.m., but the employee said it took him more than 30 minutes to report the incident because he “did not know what to do.”The employee said a female suspect walked into the store and asked for a munchkin, according to the police report.While the employee was opening the cash register, the suspect allegedly pulled out a syringe containing what appeared to be blood and demanded that he give her the money or she was “going to stick him with a needle containing AIDS.”Police say the employee refused to give the suspect any money, even after she allegedly said, “Give me the money because I have someone out back with a gun.”After several minutes and several more threats, the suspect walked out of the store without any money.?We?re glad no one got hurt in this incident, but we want to remind people that no amount of cash is worth someone?s health, safety or life,” Campanello said. “That should be taken into account if this should ever happen to them, along with the fact that time is of the essence. Always call the police.”The suspect is described as a white woman, approximately 5-feet-8, with a medium build, 165-180 pounds, with a tattoo on her hand of a date and month with the year 1992. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a gray hat with a red and white scarf covering her face, a navy blue winter coat and blue jeans.?We are actively pursuing and gathering information along with the surveillance video,” he said.Anyone with information is asked to call the Saugus police at 781-233-1740.
