SALEM – Prosecutors in the road rage case against Lynn police officer Geovanni Ruano filed details about their case Thursday in Salem Superior Court.Ruano was also arraigned Thursday on an additional charge in which he pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (car,) in connection with the case. This newest charge was handed down by an Essex County grand jury late Wednesday afternoon.It is believed that Ruano tried to strike Zelandi with 2003 Chevy Tahoe he was driving.Assistant District Attorney Maureen Wilson-Leal filed a bill of particulars in the case at the defense attorney’s request, claiming that Ruano verbally and physically assaulted Richard Zelandi during the eveningduring the incident on Atlantic Terrace and Ocean Avenue on July 31.Ruano, a 13-year department veteran, allegedly followed Zelandi down Nahant Street between 10:30 and 11 p.m., flashing his headlinghts, which apparently ended with the two exiting their vehicles and exchanging words.
