SALEM – A Lynn cop and a Revere resident have been indicted on separate cases involving assault and robbery crimes by an Essex County grand jury.Geovanni Ruano, 46, of 15 Osborne St., Lynn, faces a new charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with a road rage incident in Lynn on July 31 when he allegedly beat 24-year old Richard Zelandi, of Lynn.Ruano also pleaded innocent in September to similar charge of assault and battery in connection with the road rage incident.Assistant District Attorney Maureen Leal is prosecuting the case for the commonwealth.Also indicted was:Rolando Gala, of Revere, no street provided at this time, unarmed robbery in connection with the Eastern Bank holdup in Saugus in June.According to the report, it was about 1:30 p.m., when a man, described as a Hispanic male, walked into the Eastern Bank, located at 605 Broadway St., in Saugus, demanding money and fled the premises with an unknown amount of cash.Indictments are a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court, allowing for a more severe punishment. It is not an indication of guilt.
