REVERE – Police say a thief ran into Heidi?s Place on Winthrop Avenue Friday night and stole a cash register while the clerk wasn?t looking.The call came in to police around 8:13 p.m., with the frazzled clerk saying the convenience store located at 864 Winthrop Ave. had been robbed by a man wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt. A clear description of the suspect was not obtained because the sweatshirt that he was wearing had been pulled over his face.Police say they searched the area with a K-9 and were able to track down the cash register in a parking lot across the street from the store, along with money scattered in the street. The dog was said to have lost the scent of the suspect on Crescent Avenue.The incident is being investigated by detectives at the Revere Police department. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 781-284-1212. No injuries were reported during the robbery.
