SALEM – A Lynnfield man caught by police with hundreds of Percocets and a quantity of marijuana in his Summer Street home last summer remains free on his own personal promise to return to court after being arraigned in Salem Superior Court.Michael Fernandes, 30, of 586A Summer St., entered his plea of innocent to trafficking over 28 grams of Opium and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana before Judge Timothy Q. Feeley.The judge agreed to continue the condition, allowing Fernandes to remain free on no bail pending the outcome of his case as a joint recommendation by the prosecutor and defense.Following a police investigation into drug activity, the Essex County Drug Task Force raided his home on Aug. 13, reportedly finding hundreds of Percocet tablets and a quantity of marijuana during their search.Fernandes faces a mandatory state prison term of seven years behind bars if convicted on the most serious charge of trafficking over 28 grams of Opium.He was indicted by a grand jury in November.Fernandes is due back in court on Jan. 19 for a pretrial conference.Assistant District Attorney Karen Hopwood is prosecuting the case and Attorney Philip R. Boncore is the defense attorney.
