Torres is due back in court Jan. 31 for a pre-trial hearing.According to court documents, police say they could hear a lot of yelling coming from Torres’ home as they approached it on a report of a disturbance. Torres is said to have approached officers in the hallway, recounting the fight in broken English. He said he had gotten into an argument with his 26-year-old girlfriend while she was eating a bowl of cereal in bed. Torres said he tapped the base of the bowl, causing it to splash in her face, which led to the argument into the kitchen.Police spoke with his girlfriend, who said the two have been dating for six months. During the conversation, police say they saw some sort of gooey substance in her hair, which she said was pancake batter. Torres allegedly poured a bowl of it over her head during the argument, leaving the remnants of the mixture in a bowl on the counter.Prior to the pancake incident, the girlfriend said she was in the process of making a shake for Torres, when he allegedly became enraged because the container she was using was dirty. At one point during the squabble, she said Torres grabbed a butcher knife, placed her in a head lock using his left arm and said, “I can kill you if you I want.”
