SALEM – District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett’s office was forced to drop a rape charge against a Lynn man Tuesday because of insufficient evidence, but the suspect is going to be deported back to South Africa.Roland Yarpah, 25, formerly of 6 Houghton St., Lynn, was scheduled to go on trial in Salem Superior Court on a charge of rape.Assistant District Attorney Michael Sheehan informed Judge John T. Lu Tuesday morning that prosecutors were dropping the charge against Yarpah based on “insufficient” evidence at this time.On Oct. 22, 2006, the alleged victim, a now 23-year-old Maine resident, told police she attended a party in Lynn in Essex Circle where a man, she later identified as Yarpah, pushed her into a room, locked the door and had sex with her at the home without her consent.
