LYNN – Police say an elderly woman was savagely beaten and robbed outside her home in the 200-block of South Common Street Tuesday night.Shortly after 8 p.m., the suspect, described as a black male, 56 years old, 5-feet, 9-inches tall with gold teeth and scars on his fingers, arms and around his eyes, struck the victim over her head with an object and robbed her of her cash.Lt. Dave Brown said the person who assaulted the victim may know her.”A search of the area did not locate the suspect, but he is known to us and the investigation continues,” he said.The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment to her head wounds. Brown was unable to confirm the victim’s age due to conflicting dates, however, one report suggested she is 100 years old.Anyone with information is urged to call police at 781-595-2000. The suspect, Nicholas Christian, 30, of 7 Hammond St., was arrested a few days after the incident and has since been indicted by an Essex County grand jury.
