LYNN – An Everett man who allegedly stole more than $400 from a Keno cash register at JD’s Sports Bar on Monday afternoon is now spending some time behind bars.Alexander John Soledade, 30, of 11 Argyle St., #1, was charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unarmed robbery, use of a motor vehicle without authority and one warrant out of Malden District Court. He was arraigned Tuesday at Lynn District Court by Judge James Lamothe and was ordered held on $1,500 cash bail. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for March 29.According to court documents, officers responded to a report that JD’s Sports Bar at 159 Lewis St. had been robbed. The bartender on duty told police that she allegedly saw Soledade taking money out of the Keno cash register and then try to run out of the bar.She went on to say that a few customers tried to stop him but he was able to get away and hopped into a car parked in front of the bar. A few of the customers said they tried to pull him out of his car, which had an out of state license plate, but weren’t able to do so.Another witness told police that she heard Soledade yelling, “I won, I won” while next to the Keno register. A key had been left in the register, which was unlocked at the time of the alleged robbery. While the interviews were being conducted, Swampscott police began chasing a vehicle matching the description of the one Soledade was allegedly in. A few minutes later, Salem police stopped Soledade’s vehicle on Surrey Road, where witnesses from the bar identified him as the suspect in the robbery. The car he had been riding in was found to have been rented by his girlfriend at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, with only her name on the agreement. A bag containing approximately $438 in cash and change was found inside.Police took Soledade into custody, where they say he punched the door of the cell he was put in, spit at the camera and spewed obscenities. He then took off both of his socks, tied them together and tied them around his neck before he laid down on the floor. At that point, officers placed Soledade in a restraint chair and removed the socks from his neck while he kept yelling that he wanted to die.An employee of the bar later told police that $540 was missing from the cash register.
