SALEM – An Essex County grand jury reviewing criminal cases handed indictments up against five Lynn men, a Dorchester man, a Brockton man and a Boston female in separate cases involving narcotics, firearms, attempted murder and prostitution crimes.Domingo Mejia, 19, of 55 Howard St., #3, Lynn, is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, armed assault with attempt to rob and carrying a firearm without a license.The charges arise out of an incident in Lynn on Feb. 5 when Mejia allegedly was involved in the shooting of a 38-year-old Arlington man on Howard Street.According to reports, the victim had stopped by a Howard Street home to get the medication Atterol and, as he was heading back to his truck, a Hispanic man pointed a gun at him and demanded his money.The victim told authorities he then heard shots as he tried to drive away. He sustained injuries to his left knee and the back of his head and was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he underwent several surgeries.Mejia was arrested last month after being identified through a photo array as the victim’s assailant.The indictments now move the case from Lynn District Court, where Mejia has pleaded innocent, to Salem Superior Court, where he will be re-arraigned within a few weeks.In the meantime, Mejia remains held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.Also indicted were:Donald Hollins, 26, of 190 Bowdoin St., Dorchester, charged with deriving an income from a minor prostitute and operating a motor vehicle without a license stemming from incidents in Saugus and Andover on dates from Feb. 13, 2001 through March 23, 2011. Tatiana Moore, 17, of 42 Greenville St., Boston, charged with engaging in sex for a fee. Police arrested the pair on March 23 in Saugus during a sting operation involving a prostitution business being conducted from a motel. Hollins set Moore up as a prostitute and shared in the monies she was paid, police said. Assistant District Attorney Greg A. Friedholm is prosecuting the case for the state.Wendell A. Morris, 22, of 56 Hillside Ave., Lynn, charged with carrying a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of ammunition and possession of counterfeit notes concerns his arrest in Lynn on the evening of April 18. Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan is the prosecutor assigned.Adam Dequina, 35, of 68 Baker St., Lynn, is charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony as well as two counts of larceny of property over $250 stemming from a break-in of a Beverly home located at 350 Old Essex St. on June 29, 2009 when thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment, computer equipment and jewelry were reported stolen. Assistant District Attorney James P. Gubitose is assigned to prosecute the case.Ali McMillan, 21, of 56 Rogers Ave., #3, Lynn, Jamaal Boyd, 23, of 6 Upland Place, Lynn, and Jamel Johnson, 23, of 102 Wyman St., Brockton, charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity weapon, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. The charges arise out of an incident in Lynn on Nov. 22 when the trio was reportedly stopped in a car by police who said they found a loaded firearm in the glove compartment. A scale and cocaine were reportedly also seized from the vehicle along with a quantity of marijuana. Assistant District Attorney Michael Sheehan is prosecuting the case for the state.Indictments are not an indication of guilt, rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court, allowing for a more severe penalty.
