LYNN – Allegedly drunk and angry, a Lynn man threatened to cut a neighbor?s head off after he had assaulted his own wife Sunday night, according to police.Ovidio Rabanales, 38, of 83 Mall St., #2, was charged with domestic assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon, knife. He was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court and released on personal recognizance. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for July 22.According to court documents, police responded to a report of a domestic assault on Mall Street around 10 p.m., Sunday, where they were met by several people standing outside. One of the victims handed an officer a black-handled, serrated kitchen knife. A resident of the building, the victim, said he heard someone calling for help on the second floor and ran downstairs to help his neighbor. He found the second victim, Rabanales? wife, trying to get inside a locked bedroom. Rabanales had allegedly locked himself inside but was persuaded by his neighbor to open the door.Rabanales, allegedly drunk and angry, grabbed his wife by the shoulders and threw her onto the bed and then allegedly came after his neighbor with the kitchen knife while threatening to cut his head off.During a scuffle, the neighbor managed to wrestle the knife away from Rabanales and then called police. After Rabanales was taken into custody, his wife was advised to seek a restraining order. She refused, saying she isn?t afraid of him and that he was just drunk.
