Kayla Harrison of Marblehead helped bring some Olympic gold to the baseball diamond at Fenway Park on Saturday.Harrison, who became the first American to win a gold medal in judo when she achieved the feat in London earlier this month, joined three fellow gold medalists from New England in a ceremony at the Boston Red Sox game against the Kansas City Royals.Along with Aly Raisman (gymnastics) and Tina Charles and Asjha Jones (both women’s basketball), Harrison threw out the first pitch. The Red Sox gave Harrison a jersey with the number 12, for 2012.After throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, Harrison and her fellow Olympians were “treated to the best seats in the house,” Harrison’s publicist Wayne Catan said on Sunday.The Red Sox could not pull out the win, losing in 12 innings to their visitors from the Midwest.Tomorrow, Harrison will make a trip to the Midwest. She is a native of Ohio and she will travel to her hometown of Middletown for a homecoming parade with “numerous festivities,” Catan said.Rich Tenorio can be reached at [email protected].
