SAUGUS – A Marine veteran from Boston is offering a $5,000, “no questions asked” reward for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of 39-year-old Shawn Clark of Saugus.”I’m trying to get some more of my fellow Marines involved in it so the money is probably going to go up,” said Sly Egidio, owner of Beantown Collectibles in Boston. “We’ve had it. We’re just really upset, and I’m tired of this. I want them caught and so do a lot of other people.”Clark was shot outside his Malden skateboard shop on Tuesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.Clark was also a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.No arrests have been made and police are still investigating, said MaryBeth Long, spokeswoman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone.Egidio, who was with the 1st Battalion 25th Marines, said he was “outraged” after he found out about the shooting on Wednesday.”It looks like it was a holdup attempt, and he was probably fighting for his property, just trying to get them out of the store, and they shot him and killed him,” said Egidio, who served from 1996 to 2004. “It pretty much set me off. I’m the same exact thing he is. A guy who fought a war for this country ? We come home and are doing the right thing, starting businesses and this happens. It outraged me. I’m putting up personal money for this reward.”Egidio said anyone with information can call his store at 617-418-7598.”Former Marines are everywhere, and there are a lot of business owners out there,” he said. “We’re a very tedious bunch. They screwed with the wrong Marine.”Clark left behind a wife and two sons, 10 and 8, who both go to the Waybright Elementary School.Donna Trumpler, the president of the Waybright Parent Teacher Organization, called Clark’s death “sad” and “tragic.””We’re all in shock that this could actually happen,” she said. “Our main concern is the kids and the wife being able to survive after. It reminds you that you need to live every day to the fullest as much as you can.”A fund has been set up for Clark’s family. Donations can be sent to the Friends of Shawn Clark fund at Eastern Bank, 738 Broadway, Everett 02149. Donations are also being accepted at Eastern Bank branches in Malden and Saugus.Saugus resident Andrew Resse has a daughter at the Waybright School and said while he didn’t know Clark personally, he would often see him at pick up and drop off time.Resse, who owns Practical Defense Firearm Training, is using the online shooting forum Northeast Shooters to raise money for Clark’s family as well.”It’s a pretty generous group,” he said. “There have been issues like this before when we need to do a fundraiser, and it’s always turned out well.”So far Resse said he’s gotten “overwhelming” responses since posting a link on the forum Thursday.”I knew I’d get a response with this,” said Resse. “If there’s something you can do, why not do it?
