The Marblehead and Swampscott girls and boys tennis teams took it inside Thursday at Bass River Tennis Club, and Marblehead won both matches by 3-2 scores.The girls match was a repeat of the first time the two teams met. Swampscott won at second singles, with Vivien Gere taking her match against Annie Ryan, 6-2, 6-3, and at third singles, where Veronica Pyatigorskaya won 6-0, 6-0 over Sarah Katz.Marblehead won the other three matches with Tory Booth defeating Anna Raptunovich at first singles, 6-1, 6-1; Meghan Gabel-Kelly Mealey defeating Jessica Zolott-Anya Peterson at first doubles, 6-1, 6-0, and Amanda Gilberg-Meagan Hanratty defeating Michelle Schnayder-Natalyia Andrushchenko in second doubles, 6-2, 6-0.”This was two very good teams,” Marblehead coach Tim Stonecipher said. “We played under the lights the first time and indoors the second time. Freshman Justin Lewis led the way with four firsts – the 400 hurdles (106.7), the 100 hurdles (19.41), the high jump (5-8) and the triple jump (34-5). Mike Lora won the shot put (38-7), Kennedy Gomes, the 100 meters (11.63) and discus (106-6); Jonathan Chan, 400 meters (1:03) and Devin Phean, the javelin (102-7). Tech also won the 4 x 100 relay with Gomes, Leshawan Snow, Mike Lora and Jalil Gibson (48.7).Cardinal Spellman 94, Bishop Fenwick 43At Peabody, the Crusaders (7-1) tackled a very tough Spellman team and despite the outcome, had some solid performances. Senior Patrick Corcoran won the shot put (47-1) and discus (120-10) and Bryan Mendes, the 800 with a personal best 2:06.
