MARBLEHEAD – A 47-year-old man was taken to the hospital Monday night after lifeguards rescued the man from the lap pool at the Y.”As [the victim] approached the shallow end of the pool, one of the lifeguards on duty noticed that he had stopped moving forward,” Scott Hitchcock, executive director of the Lynch / van Otterloo Y said in a statement issued at 12:30 a.m. Monday. “The lifeguards extracted him from the pool and began performing CPR and attached the [Automated External Defibrillator] AED.”Hitchcock said in the statement that the incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter to transport the victim for further care, Hitchcock said.”While at this hour we do not know his condition, all of us at the YMCA pray for him and his family at this difficult time,” Hitchcock said in the statement.
