SAUGUS – A 12-year-old boy was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries after he rode his bike into traffic Wednesday evening, police said.”The bicycle was coming down Allard Street into Springdale Avenue, and the bicyclist entered the intersection while there was motor vehicle traffic,” Saugus Assistant Chief Ronald Giorgetti said Thursday. “The bicyclist almost struck one of the vehicles, but ended up striking another.”Police reported receiving several calls of a motor vehicle striking a child on a bicycle at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the police log.The log reports notes a pickup truck and sedan were also involved, but Giorgetti said the police report indicates the pickup truck was the only other vehicle in the accident.Giorgetti said the child was the only person injured in the accident.Cyrus Moulton can be reached at [email protected].
