SAUGUS ? A Saugus resident and an associate of alleged mob captain Mark Rossetti pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years and one day in state prison in connection with a drug robbery, according to a press release from Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office.Michael Prochilo Jr., 43, of Saugus, pleaded guilty Thursday in Suffolk Superior Court to charges of breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. The state prison sentence will be served after Prochilo completes the separate federal sentence he is now serving, said the release.”This defendant was involved with a violent criminal enterprise, and took part in breaking into a home to steal heroin and money,” Coakley said in the release. “He will now serve time in prison for his involvement with this organization, which for years threatened the safety of our communities.”According to the release, the sentence is the result of a multi-agency investigation into a highly organized and violent criminal enterprise that operated throughout Eastern Massachusetts. The Attorney General’s Office, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police started the investigation in 2009.In October 2010, 31 individuals connected to this “highly organized and violent criminal enterprise” were indicted and the suspected leader of the criminal network, Rossetti, was indicted by a Statewide Grand Jury in connection with organizing this criminal network involved in extortion, drug trafficking, robberies, assaults and other crimes, said the release. The investigation revealed that Rossetti and associate Yasmani Quezada allegedly ordered two other associates, Michael Prochilo Jr. and Edward Harris, to break into a Roslindale home to steal heroin and money. In July, a Suffolk Superior Court jury found Rossetti and Quezada each guilty on one count of breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony therein. Rossetti was sentenced to seven to nine years in state prison and Quezada was sentenced to four-and-a-half to seven years in state prison.Edward Harris pleaded guilty in September 2012 and was sentenced to five years in state prison.
