I know you?ll be outstanding officers.”Town Manager Scott Crabtree called the ceremony a “positive day” for Saugus.Coming from a police background in Saugus it?s always something that?s very gratifying supporting the police department and bringing in new officers,” said Crabtree. “The academies are pretty difficult ?It?s quite an accomplishment to make it through.”All three recruits then took their oath and were officially sworn in as Saugus? newest police officers to a loud round of applause.Murphy, a graduate of Salem State University, will be joining his father, Det. Kevin Murphy, a 20-year veteran on the force.?I want to help people and do the right thing,” said Sean Murphy. “I grew up around it because my father is a detective.”Stanley had previously been working as a dispatcher for Saugus and said working in the department and being around other police officers made him want to become one himself.?I just want to get started and help people,” said Stanley.Montano said he had wanted to become a police officer since he was little.?Seeing police officers was fascinating to me, what they did, I liked the idea that they represented,” he said. “I just like the idea that they keep people safe ? I want to make everyone feel even more safe than they already do. I know the department does a great job as is, so I just want to add to that already outstanding reputation.”Det. Kevin Murphy said he was very proud of his son and said he?ll “do his own thing” now that he?s a police officer.?I?m glad for him, it?s exciting,” he said.
